The Karelia fue una banda de Escocia cuyos integrantes eran:

Alex Huntley voz, guitarra, bouzouki y banjo

Glen Thomson bajo y percusión

Alan Wylie trompeta y

Thom Falls batería.

Sólo tuvieron un álbum llamado Divorce At High Noon, en 1997.

Divorce At High Noon es un disco que mezcla los sonidos clásicos del jazz, un tanto de rock y letras bastante divertidas.

The Karelia se separó en 1998 y fue poco conocida hasta el surgimiento de Franz Ferdinand con Alex Huntley (ya conocido como Alex Kapranos) como vocalista.

Gracias a ello Divorce at High Noon tuvo una nueva edición en 2005 con dos temas nuevos y el video de Love's A Cliché:

The Karelia was a Scottish band at the 90s. The band was formed by: Alex Kapranos (vocals, guitar, banjolele and bouzouki), Glen Thompson (bass and percussion), Alan Wylie (trumpet) and Thom Falls (drums).

Rock/Jazz mixed with funny lyrics!

They only have one record called Divorce At High Noon in 1997, the band was very few known and split in 1998.

With the success of Franz Ferdinand, the album was re-released at 2005 with two new tracks and Love's A Cliché's Video.

** El bouzouki es un intrumento base en la música griega moderna. Su caja es en forma de pera y tiene 4 cuerdas metálicas ( los más modernos, a veces, se encuentran con 6 u 8 cuerdas) La caja normalmente va decorada con trazos orientales.
